Through hard work, a dedicated staff, terrific volunteers and valued community supporters, we were able to accomplish the following in fiscal year 07-08:

We were able to increase the number of clients directly served by 22%!!  

Over half of our financial support comes from donations.  And we are happy to report that we have been able to keep our efficiency ratio in the 90’s!  For every dollar received, 91 cents goes back into our programs and services. 

Here are some of the highlights from our programs:

• We continue to do good works through our AgrAbility program, which provides on-site assessment, recommendations and assistance to help enable farmers with disabilities to continue working in the agricultural field.
  
• Camp Easter Seals Virginia served nearly 500 children and adults with disabilities this year.  This was nearly a 30% increase.  We were able to serve almost three times as many campers during our weekend respite programs, and twice as many children of military families were served through Operation Purple Camp Virginia.
  
• We provided education and case management services to nearly 400 infants and toddlers with special needs through our Early Intervention program.  This was as 23% increase from last year. 
  
• Last year, we loaned over 300 toys to families. Lekotek Leaders help families identify which toys are developmentally appropriate for their child and which toys help promote learning.  Families are able to borrow the toys for a month to use with their children in the home.  This gives families the opportunity to try out new toys before buying them.
  
• Our inclusive, service-learning program, Project SUCCESS is now serving youth in two different locations in Richmond (West End and Midlothian). Through these two locations we were able to serve 28% more youth than last year! 

The increasing number of individuals with disabilities in our programs indicates the vital need for our services. We believe all children and adults with disabilities or special needs, and their families should have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. The programs and services of Easter Seals Virginia create these opportunities!
