Ways to Get Involved and Support Easter Seals Virginia

Helping people with disabilities is what we do at Easter Seals Virginia...but we can't do it alone.  One way to get involved is participating in an Easter Seals Virginia event.  Hunt for eggs, play golf, listen to music, assist with a weekend camp program, bid in a silent auction, walk with one of our Walk With Me ambassadors -- there's something for everyone.

Walk With Me.....Doin' the Distance

Walk With Me 2008 - TaraTo celebrate 65 years of service in Virginia, Tara Hazelbaker, President/CEO of Easter Seals Virginia, and Lesley Moseley, a Century 21 Option 1 Realty Associate Broker, came up with the idea to expand our annual 5K “Walk With Me” events to include “Doin the Distance”  for a total of 165 miles. What was it like to walk 165 miles? Click here to find out.

The uniqueness of the walk will helped us raise awareness for children and adults with disabilities, and at the same time raise funds to support the programs and services we provide for them. Click here for detailed summary of Walk With Me...Doin The Distance.

Safeway LogoDuring the month of April, Safeway customers had the opportunity to help Easter Seals create life-changing solutions so that people with disabilities can live, learn, work and play by participating in an in-store fund raising campaign at check-out stands. Store clerks asked customers if they would like to make a donation to Easter Seals.  Donations support the exceptional programs that make a difference in our community.  Safeway's commitment to local communities is coordinated by the Safeway Foundation under the direction of Larree Renda who notes that “One of the reasons we’ve been with Easter Seals all these years is because the money we raise stays in local communities. And, Easter Seals is the best in its class at doing things efficiently so that the dollars raised go directly to clients served by the organization.”

Car Donation Program
BMW1Making a car donation is quick, easy and more rewarding than trading it in. In addition to cars, you can donate trucks, boats, trailers, RV’s, motorcycles and other vehicles to support your favorite charity — Easter Seals Virginia.

You benefit by receiving a tax deduction, and Easter Seals Virginia benefits by receiving funds to support its programs and services for individuals with disabilities and special needs.  Most cars, whether running or not, can be donated unless the value would not offset the cost of towing.

The IRS allows you to claim a tax deduction for the value of your vehicle up to $500. If sold for more than $500, you will receive an IRS tax form with the value for your tax purposes.

You can also donate boats and RVs.

To donate a car to Easter Seals Virginia, please click here and fill out a Vehicle Donation Form. Fax the form to Car Program at 916-631-1307.   For more information, call toll-free 1-866-874-4153 or 804-287-1007.
